Getting to Tulum:

Hooray, you’re coming!

Please make sure that your PASSPORTS are up to date ahead of time! It’s important to make sure that your passport expiration date is not within 6 months of your planned return date. Customs and Border Protection may give you issues if the expiration is less than 6 months away. https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/passports.html

To get to Tulum, you will need to book your round-trip flight to Cancun International Airport (CUN).

From the Cancun airport, you will then need to book your shuttle service or taxi (you can also rent a car - but we do not recommend) to have a driver take you to Tulum. The drive from Cancun airport to Tulum is around 90 minutes.

For our guests, we recommend that you arrive Saturday, April 23rd, with a departure on Monday, April 25th.

We know everyone’s schedules are different, but if you come in early enough on Saturday, we’d love for you to join us for our “Welcome Cocktail & Tacos” party at Mia Tulum Beach Club from 6pm -8pm.

Either way, we truly appreciate you for traveling from afar to spend our special day with us!

Shuttles/Taxis:

We highly recommend booking your shuttle or taxi service roundtrip to and from the airport to make sure that you have your logistics out of the way. You can book your transportation through Paradise Transfers & Tours with our code: M&DWEDD0422

The code is valid for a special rate on your transportation as they will group all guests into shuttles. Since the cost for transportation depends on the number of people, it will be less expensive for you to share the cost with other wedding guests if you choose. Paradise Transfers & Tours can also offer you 10% off any tours or activities for using their service if you decide to book at your own leisure.

The contact for Paradise Transfers & Tours will be Stephanie Geerts. When you are ready to book your transportation, you must email Stephanie with all of the following information to coordinate:

Name

Number of travelers

Dates of arrival & departure

Flight # & Airline

Times of arrival & departure

Hotel or AirBnb destination

Stephanie will put together a manifest with all of your details and group you into shuttles for both arrivals & departures. She will then reach out to all guests one week prior to your arrivals to confirm.

Please note Stephanie Geerts’ contact information below:

We also advise you to download the WhatsApp app for communicating with contacts out of the country. Most people in Mexico use this app to text/call and it will be easier when you are coordinating with your taxi drivers, shuttle drivers, etc.

*Friendly note to have some cash for tipping your drivers :)

Due to COVID-19 restrictions you are to have a negative COVID test 2-3 days prior to your return. Please get a COVID test when you arrive in Tulum (starting at $35) there are several locations for this to be done on Tulum Beach.

Stay:

Your flights are booked, transportation is booked, now where should you stay?

Tulum is a smaller town with two main areas: downtown Tulum, and Tulum Beach. Just a heads up, it can be pricey to stay on Tulum Beach but you are welcome to choose what you are comfortable with (recommendations below).

Aldea Zama is a popular new private community in Tulum, centrally located between Tulum Beach and downtown. This area offers a mix of Airbnb options, exclusive vacation rentals, and luxury hotels, with shops, and restaurants. The Aldea Zama community also has walking paths to these shops & places to eat. If you rent a bike, Tulum Beach is about a 15 to 20-minute bike ride, or a 5 to 10-minute cab ride away (about $20 per ride…bring cash!)

Here are some Airbnb options for the Aldea Zama community:

Two-level villa with 2 bedrooms - 3 baths - accommodates 5 guests

Two-bedroom condo - accommodates 5 guests

Two-bedroom condo - 1.5 baths -  accommodates 5 guests

One-bedroom condo - 1 bath - accommodates 2 guests

Jungle Townhouse with private pool - 3 bedrooms - 4 baths - accommodates 6 guests

Two-story PH - 1 bedroom - 1.5 baths - accommodates 2 guests

Aldea Zama Hotels:

Copal Tulum

Aloft Tulum

Orchid House Tulum

We recommend Aldea Zama as one of your options (other than Tulum Beach) when choosing where to stay because it is conveniently located for access to the beach strip. For a more cost-effective option, we recommend Aloft Tulum**

Here are some hotel options located on Tulum Beach:

Hotel Panamera - Only a few rooms left on our weekend!

Nômade Tulum

Delek Tulum - Delek is offering our guests 10% off your room with code: 04242022 (pictured above in header) - completely booked for our weekend now

Radhoo Tulum - On the jungle side of the beach (no beach view)

Here is another hotel option - not located in Aldea Zama, or Tulum Beach. It is located about 25 minutes away from the venue/beach area but has great rates. Hotel Tiki Tiki Tulum

Where to eat + What to do:

You’re here, now what? There are so many good options around the area! Whether you feel like exploring, or just hanging out at the beach, Tulum is the dreamiest place to do it all.

EAT:

Casa Jaguar: Jungle style seafood and cocktail bar

Rosa Negra: Latin American cuisine with bohemian nightclub flare

Real Coconut: Plant-focused, 100% gluten, grain, & dairy-free

Hartwood: Off-grid open-air restaurant known for seafood cooked over a wood-burning grill (first come, first serve) or reservations only allowed 1 month in advance

Taboo: If you’re feelin’ like a day party then… Taboo is a lively beach club to check out with a tasty Mediterranean cuisine

Casa Banana: Argentinian Steak-house with many other options

Kin Toh: Two words - Treehouse dreams. This place is a must-visit. It’s probably one of Tulum's most luxurious dining experiences. Enjoy a beautiful Mayan-Mexican avant-garde cuisine above the jungle in this massive treehouse restaurant

Coatica Cafe: For our coffee lovers :)

And of course, if you have the time, you should definitely check out the local restaurants in downtown Tulum. The food there is less pricey and, the local spots are always really good! When doing so, make sure that you always have cash on hand since the local areas are not as developed as the touristy areas on the main beach where hotels and restaurants have access to card machines.

TO DO:

  • Feelin’ like taking some time to explore? The Mayan Ruins is a great place to start. This ancient walled city perched on the edge of a cliff in Quintana Roo overlooking the Caribbean ocean in Mexico is quite a sight in person.

  • Love the water? Visit a cenote. What’s a centote? Cenotes are limestone sinkholes filled with fresh water, formed when bedrock collapses and exposes groundwater below. Many are crystal blue and open to the air, while others are accessible by stairs leading down into caverns and are connected to large underground river systems. Beautiful, if we must say!

  • Wanna live it up while in Tulum? Visiting a fun beach club to enjoy music, food, and drinks is a must. There are so many to check out - here are some options just to name a few: Ziggy’s, COCO, Mia, Bagatelle, Tantra
